It is used to prevent the condensate water to freeze during winter season when the outdoor temperatures drop below zero degrees Celsius. The heater is placed in the drain pan or drain pipe of the condensate water and when the outside air temperature reaches the set temperature of the thermostat then the cable is powered on and starts to heat.
